Dance Team Kick-Off Camp

ABOUT THE CAMP

This camp is for current and future Dance Team dancers only. By signing up for this camp your dancer is committing to join Dance Team for the 2025-26 season/school year and attend Dance Team Tryouts on Saturday, May 10, 2025 or Saturday, June 21, 2025. Tryouts are mandatory to be a member of Dance Team and for camp participation.

The Dance Team is for dancers ages 10-18 and is housed at our Friendship Heights location. The team is for students who wish to commit time and energy towards learning additional choreography and performing in community events. The team rehearses on Saturdays during the school year. During the school year all Dance Team members are required to take a minimum of two technique classes per week in addition to committing to mandatory Saturday rehearsals and performances.

This camp provides an opportunity for each student to learn up to 2 out of the 3 Dance Team dances for the season. All students can choose to participate in the All Team Jazz dance and/or a sub-team dance during camp. After learning their dances during the week of camp, these dances will continue to be rehearsed throughout the season in preparation for our various performances.

Students may choose up to two dances to participate in during camp. Those who sign up for the All Team Jazz dance are also committing to perform at Tenleytown Art All Night in September 2025 as well as the Washington Wizards game (TBD).

Dates: Monday, August 18 – Friday, August 22

Location: This is an in-person camp at CityDance @ Friendship Heights, 5207 Wisconsin Ave NW Washington DC 20015.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

Full Day Option – All Team Jazz & Sub Team Dance – $600

Dancers who participate in the full 4:30-8:45pm camp will learn two dances to be performed during the school year. The All Team Jazz Dance will be performed at Tenleytown Art All Night in September 2025 and the Washington Wizards game (TBD).

4:15pm-4:30pm Drop off (15 mins)

4:30-5:00pm Warm-Up (30 mins)

5:00-6:45pm All Team Jazz Dance Rehearsal (1.75 hour)

6:45pm-7:15pm Dinner Break (30 min)

7:15-8:45pm Sub Team Dance Rehearsal (1.5 hour)

8:45pm Pick up

Half Day Option – All Team Jazz – $330

Dancers who participate in the first half of camp, 4:30-6:45pm, will learn one All Team Dance to be performed during the school year, including at Tenleytown Art All Night in September 2025 and the Washington Wizards game (TBD).

Dance Team dancers who participate in the second half of camp, 7:15-8:45pm, will learn one Sub Team Dance to be performed during the 2025-26 school year. We encourage all students who only take this portion of camp to arrive early to warm themselves up before going into rehearsal.

Absence Policy

Given the condensed nature of this camp, if a dancer should become ill or otherwise have to miss a day of camp, the decision may be made to take that dancer out of the missed section of the dance or even out of the dance entirely. This decision will be made at the discretion of the choreographer and Dance Team Manager. This camp is the only time the dancers have to learn these pieces and thus attendance is of the utmost importance to ensure a successful and cohesive dance for the upcoming season.

Cancelation Policy

Camps must have at least 5 enrolled or they will be subject to cancellation. Cancellations made due to low enrollment are eligible for a full credit or refund.

Should you need to cancel your camp registration:

• Cancellations made before May 1 are eligible for a full credit or refund.
• Cancellations made after May 1 are eligible for a 50% refund OR full credit towards a Fall 2025 class registration.
• Cancellations made less than 14 days prior to the start of camp are eligible for a 50% credit towards a Fall 2025 class registration. No refunds will be issued with less than 14 days notice.
• No prorated credit or refunds will be issued for missed days of camp during the session.
