Where is CityDance Center at Strathmore located?
The Center is located at 5301 Tuckerman Lane in North Bethesda,
Maryland (near Rockville) at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue
and Tuckerman Lane.
Is CityDance Center at Strathmore Metro
accessible?
The Center is conveniently located adjacent to the Grosvenor/Strathmore
Metro station (red line) and is only 20 minutes from Metro Center.
Where should I park?
CityDance Center students and guests are prohibited from using
the Rockville Pike entrance into the Strathmore complex via the
Mansion driveway for parking. For
parents with children 6 and under, there are several 10-minute
drop-off/pick-up spots in the Mansion lot adjacent to The Music
Center. Please see below for specific instructions on
parking/dropping off.
A total of 80 short-term metered parking spots are available along
Tuckerman Lane. The cost is 25¢ for 30 minutes. These
parking spaces are closest to our main entrance on Tuckerman Lane
directly across from the Metro garage. Tuckerman Lane has
a lit sidewalk on both sides of the street. Reserved spots
in the metro garage are available to the general public weekdays
after 10:00am.
The Grosvenor/Strathmore Metro Station garage serves as the main
parking facility for The Music Center at Strathmore and the CityDance
Center education wing. Metro Garage parking is free on Saturday
and Sunday. Metro’s system wide rate for weekday parking
is $4.75 per use (as of January 6, 2008). Payment for parking
will be accepted with Metro SmartTrip cards ONLY. Cards
cost a one-time fee of $5 and can be purchased at the station. The
initial cost of a SmartTrip card will be $10. (top)
How do I register?
You can register online, via mail by sending a registration form to 5301 Tuckerman Lane, N. Bethesda MD 20852, via phone at 301.581.5204, or in person at the CityDance Center at Strathmore.
What methods of payment do you accept?
Registration fees may be paid in cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Amex) or check (made payable to CityDance). Checks are preferred.
What is adult class attire?
Ballet: Leotards (any color), tights, ballet shoes
For all other classes, students should wear
comfortable clothing that is not excessively baggy so that the
body is visible to the instructor and the student is able to move
without restriction.
What is youth class attire?
For
the safety of all students, the following rules will be enforced. Students
who do not follow these guidelines will not be allowed to participate
in class.
- No jeans may be worn in ANY class!
- Long hair must be pulled back away from face.
- No gum or loose jewelry.
- Every student needs to bring a water bottle to class.

Creative Movement and Early Childhood Dance

Flamenco
Long heavy weight skirt past the knees, but above the ankle (girls);
strapped character shoes.
Hip-Hop
Girls and Boys: Youth
and Teens: shirt and pants. Dance sneakers are acceptable footwear; no street
shoes allowed.
Jazz
Girls:
Pre-Jazz:
Pink leotard, black jazz pants, black jazz shoes.
Youth and

Boys: White
t-shirt or tank top, black jazz pants, black jazz shoes.
Tap
Low-heeled tap shoes are recommended. Students must tighten
tap screws before each class. We recommend that students
carry a personal screwdriver.

Baby blue leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes.
Contemporary:
Baby blue leotard, pink tights, bare feet.
Jazz: Baby
blue leotard, black jazz pants and black jazz shoes
Other Classes
Students may wear non-excessively baggy, comfortable clothing so
that his/her body is visible to the instructor, and the student
is able to move without restriction.
Instructors may implement more specific or relaxed dress codes
for each level and class. Students will receive notification
of these specifications the first day of class. We suggest
parents wait to purchase dance gear until then in order to ask
teachers about preferences on attire and shoes.

Can I try a class for free?
For youth classes, students can try a class once for free. For all adult classes, students must pay the adult drop-in rate for that class.
What is the Center’s closing policy during inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, please call our main line at 301.581.5204 to find out about class cancellations. Our voice message will provide you with any schedule changes. We follow Montgomery County Public Schools policy for inclement weather closings. (top)

By Metro:
CityDance Center at Strathmore is directly adjacent to the Grosvenor/Strathmore Metro station on the red line. As you exit the metro station, either follow the sidewalk to your immediate left toward the main entrance of Strathmore, or cross the street straight ahead, enter the parking garage on your left, and take the elevators to the fourth level. Use the covered sky bridge on the far side of the garage that connects to the main entrance of Strathmore. At the end of the sky bridge, take the first door on your right. (top)
By Bus:
CityDance Center at Strathmore is easily accessible by bus as well as Metro. We are serviced by the following routes. (Please check the Montgomery County Ride-On website for specific route and time information.)

By Car:
From the Beltway (outer loop)
The CityDance Center at Strathmore is located 1/2 mile north of the Capital Beltway.
Take Exit 34 and head north on Wisconsin Ave., Route 355 (Rockville Pike).
Pass the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station.
The Center is located on the right just after the intersection of Route 355 and Tuckerman Lane.
From the Beltway (inner loop)
Exit the Capital Beltway (I-495) onto Old Georgetown Road (Route 187, Exit 36).
Turn left off the exit ramp onto Old Georgetown Road. Proceed for about 1.5 miles.
Turn right onto Tuckerman Lane. Turn left onto Rockville Pike (Route 355).
The Center is located on the right, approximately 50 yards from the intersection.
From the I-270 Spur (heading south)
Exit the I-270 Spur onto Old Georgetown Road (Route 187).
Follow the signs to Old Georgetown Road, North.
Turn left onto Rt. 187. Within a 1/4 mile, turn right onto Tuckerman Lane.
Turn left onto Rockville Pike (Route 355).
The Center is located on the right, approximately 50 yards from the intersection.
On Rockville Pike (heading north)
CityDance Center at Strathmore is located 1/2 mile north of the Capital Beltway on Rockville Pike.
The Center is on the right, approximately 50 yards after the intersection of Rockville Pike (Route 355) and Tuckerman Lane.
On Rockville Pike (heading south)
CityDance Center at Strathmore is located on Rockville Pike (Route 355) just south of White Flint Mall.
After passing the intersection of Strathmore Avenue, the Center is on the left.
There is break in the median for the Music Center's main entrance; stay in the left lane as you approach the grounds. (top)
Parking
CityDance
Center students/guests are prohibited from using the Rockville
Pike entrance into the Strathmore complex via the Mansion driveway
for parking. For parents with children 6 and under,
there are several 10-minute drop-off/pick-up spots in the Mansion
lot adjacent to The Music Center. Please see below for
specific instructions on parking/dropping off.
Student Drop-off and Pick-up
There is a circular
driveway off Tuckerman Lane for both drop-off and pick-up of students. Drivers must remain in vehicles
while idling off the driveway. This entrance accesses the
grand staircase leading to our dance studio and classrooms located
to the left at the top of the staircase on the third floor. Elevators
are also available for access to the third floor.
Parents with children 6 years old and younger needing to be escorted
into the building may use the 10-minute parking spots in front
of the building via the mansion parking lot by
issue of parking permit only. You may pick-up a parking
pass from the CityDance Center reception desk. Hazard lights
must be used when parking in these spots. **These courtesy
spaces in the mansion parking lot are only available until 6:00pm
and may not be available during special and/or high security events.
**CityDance Center will notify parents and students in
advance if the circle driveway will be prohibited from use due
to high security events.
Students must be picked up immediately after the conclusion of
class. The CityDance Center is not responsible for governing
students outside of the classroom.
