CityDance featured on 2009 Telly Award-winning episode
of Montgomery County Cable show

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 4, 2009

Washington, DC—An episode of the Montgomery County Cable television show Performance Moves! featuring CityDance Ensemble was recently awarded a Bronze statue in the cultural productions category at the 30th Annual Telly Awards. The award-winning episode highlighted both CityDance’s professional company and outreach program, as well as Marin Alsop, Musical Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, CityDance’s fellow partner at the Music Center at Strathmore. Performance Moves! is produced by Jessica Fusillo for County Cable Montgomery and is regularly co-hosted by CityDance Ensemble Artistic Director Paul Emerson Gordon.

The winning episode includes a spotlight on CityDance’s DREAM outreach program, an after-school dance, arts education, and community-building program serving underprivileged youth in the DC area. The episode highlights the DREAM students’ fourth annual half-time performance at a Washington Wizards game. In addition, the episode includes a new segment called “Performance Primer” in which Emerson interviews CityDance Rehearsal Director and Choreographer-in-Residence Christopher K. Morgan as he shares his professional insight on live dance performance.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards are the premiere award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest film and video productions, and groundbreaking web commercials, videos, and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
