CityDance Ensemble holds an annual audition for both its professional repertory company, CityDance Ensemble, and its Second Company, CityDance 2. Auditions are held in New York City and at the CityDance Center at Strathmore.

CityDance Ensemble hires for a 32 - 36 week salaried contract. The company rehearses Monday - Friday from 9:30 - 5:00. Extensive touring is a possibility (in 2009 CityDance Ensemble toured five weeks to the Middle East and Chile, with shorter regional U.S. runouts. In 2010 the company anticipates five weeks in the Middle East).

CityDance2 is both a concert performance company and an outreach and teaching residency company, centered in the Washington, DC area. The Second Company appears periodically with CityDance Ensemble. CD2 is not salaried at this time, and works on a per performance fee structure.

Audition Requirements

CityDance and CityDance2 hire modern dancers ages 18 and up. Strong modern and ballet technique is required, previous professional experience preferred. Dancers must be available to rehearse Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 5pm.

Please prepare a short (3-minute maximum) solo that will be shown as the final part of the day’s audition. Audition will include a brief warm-up, followed by phrase work from the repertory. Bring resume with headshot stapled to the back (do not mail). No early DVD submissions will be accepted.
